Marin Community Benefit Cooperative
Local
A Good Idea
Description
The Marin Community Benefit Cooperative (MCBC) is project of the organization Our Health is at Stake (OHIAS) and is where local people seeking work and opportunity can access local undervalued and underutilized natural capital from built and urban forest environments to produce higher quality, higher value reusable materials and products that are more sustainable and healthier for the community.
Goal / Mission
MCBC's mission and work is about educating, assisting, and empowering individuals to live and work more harmoniously with nature and their community to avoid further ruin of the planet's finite life-sustaining capacity. A principal objective of its mission is to end waste as we know it today.
Results / Accomplishments
MCBC has demonstrated on a small scale the potential possibilities and opportunities for empowering people to live more healthy and happy lives, while doing so sustainably and responsibly. It was recently certified as a Marin Construction and Deconstruction Facility.
