What is this Indicator? This indicator shows the average number of public school students per teacher in the county. It does not measure class size.
Why this is important: The student-teacher ratio gives a rough idea of the amount of individualized attention from teachers that is available to each student. Although it is not the same as class size, the student-teacher ratio is often a reasonable alternative on which to base estimates of class size. The student-teacher ratio is an indicator of how well a school or district is preparing their students to function in society.
Technical note: The distribution is based on data from 3,138 U.S. counties. |
