| Description |
Brooklyn GreenBridge is the community horticulture program of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The program is designed to share the knowledge and resources of BBG with the neighborhoods of the borough. Brooklyn GreenBridge participates in the New York City Compost Project, providing composting information and assistance to community gardens, institutions, and individuals. The program also works with neighborhood and community groups who are starting new gardening projects or continuing existing programs, offering free workshops, plants, compost, and seeds. |
| Goal / Mission |
Working with block associations, community gardens, community centers, and other groups, Brooklyn GreenBridge promotes conservation and community through gardening activities. |
| Results / Accomplishments |
Last year alone, Brooklyn GreenBridge distributed over 12,000 seed packets and 10,000 tulip bulbs to registered Brooklyn GreenBridge community gardeners. Brooklyn GreenBridge also sponsors the Greenest Block in Brooklyn Contest, offering reasonably priced windowbox planting kits to Brooklyn residents. |
