| Description |
The Maryville-Alcoa Greenway trail is an eight-mile long trail that serves as an alternative transportation route for residents of Maryville and Alcoa, Tennessee. The trail is built next to parks, a library, schools, restaurants and other business areas, and therefore supports a viable method of travel. Maryville and Alcoa received Federal Transportation Enhancements funding to build the trail. In additional to federal funds, the trail project has also received private funding from local businesses and individual donations. |

The goal of the trail is to provide a safe route for residents to travel to work, school, businesses and recreational areas. |
| Results / Accomplishments |
Since the completion of the trail renovation in 1998, property value near the trail has increased. It has also attracted businesses and created jobs. The trail also hosts the Foothills Fall Festival that attracts 140,000 visitors every year. Schools have used the trail as a part of their physical education programs. The trail has served as an outdoor classroom for nature and ecology studies. Overall, the Greenway trail provides economic benefits and healthy environment for the residents of Maryville and Alcoa. |
