| Description |
The goal of the Save our Smiles program is to provide children in New Jersey with a fluoridated mouth rinse in order to improve their oral health. Initially all schools were welcome to participate, but in 1997 the program adopted new criteria to ensure that high-risk children were targeted.
First, program coordinators contact a school and establish a connection with a liaison who will administer the program at each school. A training is then conducted on either an individual or group basis and the program is administered through the mix-and-pump or unit-dose method. Program coordinators conduct a yearly review of the program at each school.
